WHO: Los Chinches are one of the most exciting and cutting edge acts to emerge from the new Latin scene; a combination of Peruvian percussionists and London bred guitar and keyboard players creating an epic new sound that harnesses the psychedelic twists of Peruvian Cumbia and the Punk and Ska spirit of London. Namely they draw upon the style of Cumbia developed in Peru in the 1960s - known as 'Chicha' – which, along with their unique rocking tropical energy, makes for blistering live performances and an ever-growing reputation.
"Everytime Los Chinches play at our venue they blow the roof off!"
Sophia Yates, Venue Owner & Programmer, The Hootananny (London Lifestyle Awards Best Live Music Venue 2011)
“The best Psychedelic Peruvian band out there.” Chris Tofu, Festival Programmer/Director, Continental Drifts
"Los Chinches are amongst the best of the best of London’s wealth of Latin American style bands… tropical, Amazonian, psychedelic… guarantors of a great night out, of dancing and brilliant musicianship." Oliver Carruthers, Head of Programming, Rich Mix (Cultural Foundation & arts venue, London)
WHERE: In the two years since forming, Los Chinches have blazed a trail across the London scene at an eclectic array of Latin club nights, folk events and rock’n’roll venues. They've been part of the most prestigious UK Latin music festival ‘La Linea’ where they played at London's Barbican and they've packed dance floors at established venues like Cargo and Rich Mix. They’ve also rocked high profile festival stages at Glastonbury, Bestival, The Big Chill, and in 2010 were invited to WOMAD on the Charlie Gillet stage. Not forgetting that they’ve graced the cover of F-Roots Magazine as part of a feature on the best new Latin bands coming out of the UK.
RELEASES: With the release of their debut album on Movimientos Records in 2012 and an EP and single to precede it, the band are ready to conquer the rest of the UK and the world.
