Movimientos’ bi-monthly event at Rich Mix. In August Movimientos joins forces with the Welsh based festival El Sueño Existe that celebrates the legendary Chilean musician Victor Jara, and the night will feature very special guests from Latin America including Carlos Oyarzun from Chile and Gerardo Osal from Venezuela two of the most celebrated folk musicians from the continent.

We also celebrate the launch of Nascente Record's Beginner's Guide To Latin America - a 3 CD exploration of some classic and contemporary Latin American rhythms compiled by Movimientos' very own Cal Jader, with copies to give away on the night.

DJ Cal Jader drops the freshest Latin beats and Tropical bass rhythms alongside headliners Kalakuta Millionaires with a dirty mix of Fela Kuti inspired brass lines, Latin rhythms, Afro-psych organ and JB style funk riffs. The night also welcomes the newest signings on the Tru Thoughts label Beta Hector with some retro-futuristic digi-funk beats. Plus 7 Suns and their energizing blend of Afro, Latin, Caribbean funk and jazz with a rock intensity!

Movimientos continue their groundbreaking mix of documentary film, DJs and live music. London’s finest Salsa, Boogaloo and Latin Funk band Manteca make a welcome debut at Passing Clouds. Guest DJ Ion Din Anina from Sevilla adds some Tropical bass into the mix and Udigrudi continue their residency hosting the upstairs bar with the funky mix of Brazilian beats, Tropicalia, Reggae and Funk. Plus short film screenings early in association with the IRMO (Indo-American Refugee Migrant Organisation)

Gandaia Arts in partnership with Movimientos and Makumba presents DJ TUDO with full live band. The Brazilian musician and researcher Alfredo Bello, who goes by DJ Tudo, studies the trajectory of music from West Africa to the New World. On “Nos Quintais do Mundo” (“In the Courtyards of the World”), released on his own label, Mundo Melhor, he’s literalizing the connections. The album was recorded around the world, in studios on three continents, and on the street: in a single track there’s maracatu rhythm from carnival in Recife, Brazil, with horns, bass and guitar suggesting Afrobeat, then some singing by Ahmet Male in a Senegalese Pular dialect recorded on a trip to Africa.

To celebrate it's first official release on DVD by Strut Records / Fania, Movimientos joins forces with Shook magazine and Strut Records to present an exclusive West London screening of the classic NY Salsa film "Our Latin Thing" (Cosa Nuestra). The film directed by Oscar winner Leon Gast (When We Were Kings), is simply the greatest salsa documentary ever made.

After the success of their incredible sellout summer boat party three of London's leading latin club nights return for the essential party switch into 2012. To make the whole party go with an extra festive bang there is authentic live music provided by London’s finest samba, drumming outfit Eri Okan. Brighton's finest King Lagoon's Flying Swordfish Dancing Band with very special live show featuring light and aromas, plus all female Brazilian percussion project Let Drum Beat and Newcastle's Burundanga bring a unique mix of Afro-Latin rhythms from Peru to Brazil.
