Choco region in Colombia is one of the most bio diverse in the world. It is also where a great part of the Colombian armed conflict takes place. Mama Choco follows Paulina, a displaced mother of 26 children, in her quest to find a place that she and her family can call home in Cali, the third biggest city in Colombia.
Choco is one of the world's richest regions in natural resources. Paulina is as fertile as this land. Mother of 26 children, midwife and artist; a woman filled with a boundless joy and love for life. One day a bombardment forced her to abandon her house and her ancestral land. Together with her family and thousands of other displaced people she walks for several months to reach Cali, where leaved to their fate. They don't have another chance that live on a flimsy shanty made of wood, plastic sheeting and mud. Through songs Paulina takes us on an imaginary journey across this beautiful region now destroyed by civil war where they cannot return.
